Art history is full of unsolved mysteries. How were the pyramids built? Why does the Mona Lisa have that eerie smile? But most pressing on my mind is the 2002 direct-to-video film "Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch". In previous Air Bud movies, Buddy could at least plausibly catch a football or a basketball, but it seems like he would be completely useless playing baseball. How would he hold a bat? Wouldn't he hurt his teeth trying to catch? He probably wouldn't even be able to fit on the bases because he isn't bipedal. With seemingly no concern towards canine anatomy, Disney found a feel-good formula that worked. The 12-film ABCU (Air Bud Cinematic Universe) grossed $220 million. It can be argued that capitalism breeds innovation, but in this case it simply produced a litter of interchangeable dog movies. Air Bud up to bat in the 4th installment of the series Image Source
